My work combines my passions for sewing, painting, drawing and collage. It also explores my fight with my inner demons, expressing feelings of constriction, containment and freedom.
I enjoy working with transparencies and light weight papers as they give me a sense of liberation and awe. Seeing light passing through one of my images, or a textured piece evokes hope. I paint on textured backgrounds to give depth and meaning to the work. The layered collaged tissue paper and pattern paper remind me of my childhood, making paper mache and sewing.
My art has been in shows at Graven Feather, Latitude 44, Telephone Booth, Moniker and Ben Navaee Galleries and the Orillia Museum.
